In a wooded shelter belt on Zolota Street in Lviv, a 46-year-old woman was found dead. Police detained a 49-year-old Lviv resident suspected of her premeditated murder.
The report of the killing reached the police on 13 August. An investigative team, officers from Police Department No.1 of Lviv District Police Directorate No.1, and forensic experts of the Lviv Region Police worked at the scene.
According to preliminary information, that evening the man met a Lviv resident, after which they went into the shelter belt to drink alcohol. During the drinking session, a sudden conflict arose between them, during which, according to the investigation, the perpetrator pulled a lace from a trainer and strangled the woman.
The suspect was detained under the procedure of Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators informed him that he is suspected of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder). The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, under the procedural supervision of the Halych District Prosecutor’s Office.
