Man detained in Lviv for illegal possession of grenades and ammunition

In Lviv, law enforcement officers have uncovered a 43-year-old Lviv resident who, according to the investigation, was illegally storing ammunition at home. This was reported by Lviv District Police Department No.1.

During an urgent search carried out on 7 July, police officers seized from the man two F-1 type hand grenades with detonators, as well as almost 30 rounds of 5.45 mm calibre. According to investigators, he had illegally acquired the ammunition and was storing it without intent to sell.

The owner of the ammunition was detained under the provisions of Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators from the territorial police unit informed him that he is suspected under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).

The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, law enforcement officers are establishing the origin of the ammunition, and the court is expected to choose a preventive measure for the suspect in the near future.
