
In Lviv, police detained a 52-year-old man who organized the distribution of cannabis.
It was established that the Lviv resident received batches of the narcotic substance, which he packaged and sold by hand-to-hand transactions, accepting only cash. In one day, he could serve up to 60 clients. The offender was exposed by the operatives of the Narcotics Crime Division of the Lviv Police and investigators of Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, under the procedural guidance of the Halytsky District Prosecutor’s Office. The arrest was carried out with the support of special forces of the Lviv Police.
On November 12, law enforcement officers detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During sanctioned searches at the detainee’s residence and storage place of the ‘goods,’ officers found and seized more than 60 packaged bags of the narcotic substance cannabis, electronic scales, packaging devices, a grinding device, communication means, and other evidence of his involvement in illegal activities. All seized items were sent for expert examination.
The suspect has been informed of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty – imprisonment for a term of four to eight years. Pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved.
