
Suspect Detained in Lviv for Series of Thefts and Illegal Intrusion
In Lviv, police apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in four thefts and illegal entry into premises.
The 33-year-old resident of Lviv, who had previously been held criminally liable, including for theft, faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to eight years.
Details of the Crime
Pre-trial investigation established that on the night of April 3 to 4, the suspect illegally entered two shops, an atelier, and a catering establishment, from which he stole cash totaling more than 63 thousand hryvnias.
All the establishments are located in the Sykhiv residential area – on Chervonoi Kalyny Avenue and Dragan Street. In each case, the offender entered the premises by damaging the entrance doors.
Investigation and Arrest
Criminal police operatives, investigators, and staff of other services from Police Department No. 2 of Lviv District Police Department No. 2, as well as officers from the Criminal Analysis Department of Lviv police, were involved in uncovering the crimes.
Through conducted measures, studying video surveillance system ‘Safe Lviv’ records, law enforcement officers determined the suspect’s whereabouts and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in a premises located on Chervonoi Kalyny Avenue, which he entered illegally.
Under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, the detainee was informed of the suspicion of crimes under Part 1 of Article 162 (Violation of the inviolability of the home) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 4 of Article 185 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty under the articles’ provisions is imprisonment for up to eight years.
Pre-trial investigation continues, the suspect is held in custody by court decision.
