Attacker Who Fatally Wounded Soldier Detained in Lviv

An inspector from customs was detained in Lviv after fatally wounding a serviceman during notification activities. The incident occurred on 2 April on Patona Street when an unknown assailant stabbed a Territorial Defence Centre serviceman in the neck. The victim died in hospital from the injuries sustained.

To solve the crime, operatives from the criminal police, investigators, patrol officers, and other police services of the Lviv region were involved. Law enforcement officers quickly established the whereabouts of the suspect, a Lviv resident born in 1991, and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Police investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, initiated criminal proceedings under paragraph 8, part 2, Article 115 (Premeditated Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of ten to fifteen years or life imprisonment.
