
In Lviv, on Dvirtseva Square near the entrance to the Main Railway Station, police promptly detained a 40-year-old resident of the city of Dnipro, who is suspected of robbing a passenger from Dnipropetrovsk region.
According to law enforcement officers, on 30 June at around 15:30 an unknown man used physical violence against a 53-year-old resident of Dnipropetrovsk region and took possession of his bag before fleeing. According to the victim, the bag contained 100 euros in cash, documents and a mobile phone.
To solve the crime, officers from the criminal police, investigators and staff of other units of Police Division No.1 of Lviv District Police Department No.2 were brought in. Through the measures carried out, law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the perpetrator and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. It was established that the detainee had previously been held criminally liable.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the man that he was suspected of committing a criminal offence under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery). The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.
Law enforcement officers remind the public that under martial law, the maximum penalties are provided for theft, robbery, aggravated robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation or embezzlement of property, or taking possession of it through abuse of office. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and a decision is being made on the choice of preventive measure for the suspect.
