
Police in Lviv have arrested a suspect for the illegal seizure of a vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was found on one of the streets of Lviv. For the offense, the detainee faces imprisonment for up to five years. On October 24, the police received a report from a 55-year-old Lviv resident about the theft of her VAZ 21083 car, which was parked near a store on Trolleybus Street in Lviv.
Investigators, criminal police operatives, and other officers of Lviv District Police Department No.2, as well as employees of the Criminal Analysis Department of Lviv Police, were involved in solving the crime. Through conducted measures and studying video surveillance recordings of the ‘Safe Lviv’ system, law enforcement officers found the stolen car on one of the streets of Lviv.
The identity of the perpetrator involved in the car theft was established—a 39-year-old resident of Sambir district, who had previously been brought to criminal responsibility. The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 289 (Illegal seizure of a vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment—restriction of liberty for a term of three to five years or imprisonment for the same term.
