In Lviv, police detained a man suspected of purchasing, storing, and distributing cannabis.
It was established that the 62-year-old Lviv resident purchased a large batch of the narcotic substance, which he later packaged and distributed from hand to hand to ‘clients’ at his place of residence. Operatives from the anti-narcotics crime unit of the Lviv police, along with investigators from Lviv District Police Department No.1, documented several episodes of the suspect’s illegal activity and detained him on February 11 according to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine during the distribution of ten zip-packets containing the narcotic substance cannabis.
Moreover, during a sanctioned search at the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers discovered a significant amount of cannabis, money, packaging tools, and other material evidence of his involvement in illegal activities. All confiscated items were sent for expert examination.
Under the procedural guidance of the Galician District Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was informed of the suspicion in committing a criminal offense envisaged by part 1, part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transport, transfer, or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation continues, and the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is being considered.
