
In Lviv, law enforcement officers arrested an arms dealer who had previously faced criminal charges.
The suspect, a 35-year-old resident of the Lviv district, was selling grenade casings, igniters, and ammunition for various types of weapons. He faces up to seven years in prison for his actions. “The perpetrator was unveiled by criminal police operatives in collaboration with investigators from police department No.1 of Lviv district police department No.2, under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk district prosecutor’s office”, law enforcement reports.
Officers documented several episodes of the suspect’s illegal activities and on June 5, arrested him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on Zaliznychna Street in Lviv after he sold two grenade casings and corresponding igniters. The seized ammunition has been sent for expert research to the Scientific Research Expert Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Lviv region.
The district police’s investigators informed the arrested about the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosive substances) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Sanctions under this article provide for imprisonment for a term of three to seven years. The pre-trial investigation continues, law enforcement is establishing the origin of the ammunition, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being considered.
