Woman Detained in Lviv with Psychotropics Worth 250,000 UAH

A local resident was detained in Lviv with psychotropic pills worth 250,000 UAH.

Under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, a 30-year-old woman from Lviv was notified of suspicion for the illegal acquisition, storage with the intent to sell particularly dangerous psychotropic substances (part 2 of article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in August of this year, the suspect purchased another large batch of the particularly dangerous psychotropic substance MDMA, which she received by parcel through a postal machine. Subsequently, the woman intended to establish illegal sales of the ‘goods’ through ‘drop-offs’ in the Lviv area.

However, law enforcement officers detained the subject in accordance with article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine – a zip-bag with nearly 250 tablets of MDMA was found in her possession. The estimated value of the banned substances on the ‘black’ market is about 250,000 UAH.

In addition, it was documented that the woman had previously managed to make several ‘drop-offs’ with presumably another batch of psychotropics. At the prosecutor’s request, the suspect was selected a preventive measure in the form of detention without bail. Investigative actions are ongoing.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Oblast, with the operational support of the Drug Crime Fighting Unit of Lviv Police.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court sentence.
