
In Lviv, police detained a man who brutally assaulted a passerby during a conflict.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a severe head injury. The detainee, who had previously been repeatedly brought to criminal liability, faces up to eight years of imprisonment. The incident occurred on October 20th on a pedestrian walkway between buildings on Zubrivska Street in Lviv. A conflict arose between two men, residents of Lviv aged 31 and 39. The younger participant struck the older one with a fist to the head, causing him to fall and hit the asphalt.
Doctors diagnosed the victim with severe injuries, including fractures of the skull and facial bones. They reported the incident to the emergency line 102. Law enforcement officers located the offender, who had previously been brought to criminal liability, including for drug-related crimes, and detained him under Article 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators informed the detainee of suspicion of a crime under Part 1 of Article 121 (Intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. The pre-trial investigation continues, and soon the court will determine a preventive measure for the suspect.
