A student was detained in Lviv for possessing cannabis with the intent to distribute.
According to the investigation, a 20-year-old Lviv resident purchased the narcotic substance cannabis in December of this year for further distribution. She planned to place ‘stashes’ for drug-dependent residents of Lviv. However, law enforcement officers detained the woman under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in one of the forested areas of the Zaliznychnyi district of the city.
During the search, 97 packaged bags containing the drug ready for distribution were seized from her. Under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv city, the woman was informed of the suspicion of illegal acquisition and possession with the intent to distribute narcotic substances (part 1 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Investigative actions are ongoing, and a series of examinations have been appointed. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by police department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Administration No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a verdict of the court.
