Woman in Lviv sentenced to 7 years for stabbing acquaintance to death

In Lviv, a 55-year-old woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being found guilty of the premeditated murder of an acquaintance. This was reported by prosecutors from the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Lviv.

At the beginning of this year, the woman and her 55-year-old acquaintance were drinking alcohol in an abandoned wooden building in Lviv, which they had set up for temporary accommodation. At around 13:00, an argument broke out between them.

During the conflict, the woman took a kitchen knife and stabbed the man three times in the neck. As a result of the wounds, which damaged his carotid artery, the victim died from acute blood loss.

After this, the convicted woman, not realising that she had inflicted fatal injuries on her acquaintance, fell asleep in the same building. Waking up in the evening and seeing that the man showed no signs of life, she went to the nearest shop and asked the shop assistant to call an ambulance and the police, but did not wait for law enforcement officers to arrive and left the scene.

The next day, police officers located and detained the woman. She was charged with intentional unlawful causing of death to another person under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation was carried out by officers of Police Department No. 2 of Lviv District Police Directorate No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.

Until the verdict comes into legal force, the convicted woman will remain in custody. The court’s verdict comes into legal force after the expiry of the time limit for lodging an appeal.
