In Malechiv, a VAZ driver injured a woman — he has been detained

In the village of Malechiv in the Lviv district, a road traffic accident occurred. In the evening of 5 April, around 16:30, a woman was hit on the ‘Lviv-Radekhiv-Lutsk’ highway.

According to preliminary data, a 56-year-old driver of a VAZ 2115 from the Zolochiv district struck a 34-year-old female resident of the Lviv district. As a result of the incident, the woman sustained injuries and was hospitalised.

The driver was detained pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators from the Lviv police have opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, relating to violations of traffic safety rules. The penalty includes imprisonment for up to eight years with the possible revocation of driving rights for up to three years.

The police continue to ascertain details of the incident.
