In Mykolaiv, Stryi district, two underage motorcyclists injured in road accident

In Mykolaiv, Stryi district, two minors – the rider and passenger of a two-wheeled vehicle – were injured as a result of a collision between a car and a motorcycle. This was reported by the Stryi District Police Department.

The road traffic accident occurred on 9 June at around 19:45. According to preliminary findings, law enforcement officers established that a Peugeot 407 car, driven by a 64-year-old local resident, and a Bajaj Pulsar NS200 motorcycle ridden by a 17-year-old resident of Mykolaiv, had collided.

As a result of the accident, the 17-year-old motorcyclist and his 16-year-old passenger, who is also a resident of Mykolaiv, sustained bodily injuries and were taken to hospital.

Investigators of Police Station No. 2 of the Stryi District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road safety regulations. The article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ restriction of liberty with disqualification from driving vehicles for up to three years.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
