The road accident occurred on 22 February at 17.30 on Bandera Street in Novoyavorivsk
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a BMW, a 25-year-old resident of Novoyavorivsk, hit a pedestrian, a 65-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the man was injured and hospitalised.
It was established that the driver of the car was driving while intoxicated.
Investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
