On July 15, around 2:30 p.m., the 102 hotline received a report from a 36-year-old resident of Novy Rzidil, who said that an unknown man attacked her in a park on Hrushevsky Street, tore off a gold chain with a pendant from her neck and ran away.
Detectives of the criminal police, investigators and crews of the response sector of the patrol police of police department No. 2 of the Stryi district police department were involved in solving the crime.
The victim provided a detailed description of the assailant – law enforcement officers conducted a complex of operative and investigative measures, during which, with the help of video surveillance cameras installed as part of the “Safe Lviv Region” program, they discovered the whereabouts of the attacker and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Physical evidence was seized.
The detainee has been identified as a 30-year-old local resident who has previously been held criminally responsible for thefts, robberies and drug-related crimes.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office, informed the intruder of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in part 4 of article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
