
In Novyi Rozdil, police arrested a suspect involved in the robbery of a passerby.
On December 1, around 4:00 PM, the police received a report from a 59-year-old resident of Novyi Rozdil that an unidentified person had snatched a handbag from her on Lesya Ukrainka Street. The handbag contained a wallet with money, a mobile phone, a bank card, and other belongings, after which the suspect fled.
To solve the crime, criminal investigation operatives, investigators, and officers from other units of police department No.2 of Stryi district police department were involved. Through operational and search measures, law enforcement officers determined the suspect’s location and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The identity of the detainee was established – he turned out to be a 25-year-old local resident with a prior criminal record. Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion in committing a criminal offense under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment from seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers remind that in wartime conditions, maximum penalties are provided for theft, robbery, assault, extortion, as well as for embezzlement, misappropriation of property, or seizing it by abuse of office.
