In Lviv’s Znesinnia Park last week, unidentified individuals damaged signposts, information boards and posts in the pedestrian zone. The incident was reported by the acting head of the park, Roman Terletskyi.
According to him, such acts of vandalism in the park are not being recorded for the first time; they occur on a regular basis. To prevent further damage, the administration is preparing to install the first CCTV cameras near the inclusive playground.
«It is regrettable, but we have always recorded such incidents in the park. We are now planning to install the first batch of cameras near the inclusive playground so that we can track down who is committing these acts of vandalism,» said Roman Terletskyi
The park stresses that staff work every day to ensure visitors’ comfort and safety: they tend to the greenery, monitor the arrangement of the grounds and the recreational space for residents and guests of the city.
Because of the vandals’ actions, the damaged infrastructure elements will have to be repaired or reinstalled. This requires additional time and effort from staff, which could otherwise be directed to other park maintenance work.
The Znesinnia administration urges city residents to treat park property with care and to respect the work of those who keep the area in proper condition. An autumn visitor survey is also under way: Lviv residents and guests of the city are invited to share their impressions of their walks, talk about their favourite spots and suggest ideas for improving the space.
