The attempt to illegally cross the border by a man of conscription age was stopped, according to the operatives of the Lviv detachment.
A Volkswagen minibus arrived at the Rava-Ruska checkpoint for departure to Poland. During the check-in, the border guard checked the number of people who crossed the state border, which was noted in the control card. As it turned out later, a couple from the Lviv Region was traveling by car to a neighboring country.
During the control, the 35-year-old passenger got out of the car and went to the restroom, and the “secret” passenger, who was hiding in the trunk, took her place in the car. In this way, the violators managed to pass the check based on the number of people during the inspection of the vehicle. After that, the couple passed the border control according to the established procedure, and after returning to the car, the woman corrected the number of people in the control card. However, they were stopped by border guards when they tried to leave for Poland.
The law enforcement officers established that the spouses agreed to transport a man of draft age across the border for a monetary reward, for which there are no legal grounds. The carriers “valued” their services at $3,000.
The person was not allowed to cross the border and was brought to administrative responsibility under Part 1 of Art. 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. In relation to the carriers, operatives of the Lviv border detachment have sent a report to the National Police, their actions show signs of a criminal offense, provided for in Art. 332 of the Criminal Code “Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine.”
In the process of searching the vehicle and at the place of residence of the spouses, law enforcement officers found and seized cash, bank cards, copies of documents and documents with signs of forgery, a mobile terminal and SIM cards, which confirm involvement in illegal activities.
Investigators informed the intruder of suspicion of committing a crime for organizing an illegal transfer. The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is under consideration.
Actions to stop illegal activities were carried out by operatives and personal security officers of the Lviv border detachment together with investigators of the SE VP No. 2 of the Lviv district police department No. 1 of the GU NP in the Lviv region under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkiv district prosecutor’s office.
Investigations are ongoing.
