Undeclared equipment worth over one million hryvnias seized at Ugryniv border crossing

At the Ugryniv border crossing point, border guards together with customs officers discovered a consignment of undeclared equipment with an estimated value of more than one million hryvnias. The concealed cargo was found during an in-depth inspection of a scheduled coach travelling from Poland to Chernihiv.

According to the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment, the inspection was carried out on the basis of prior information from operational staff of the 6th and 7th border detachments, using special technical equipment. The Setra coach was driven by a 36-year-old resident of Volyn region.

The hiding places had been arranged in the structural cavities of the vehicle, in particular in the ceiling and technical compartments. From there, officers retrieved AirPods earphones, lapel microphones, tablets, a video camera, quadcopters, Apple smartwatches, Google Pixel mobile phones and iPhones of various models, as well as computer components.

In total, 69 pieces of equipment were seized from the coach. According to the driver, he was transporting the goods from Poland to Kyiv, from where he planned to send part of them by post to Dnipro. The estimated value of the discovered cargo, according to preliminary assessments, may exceed one million hryvnias.

A report on the offence was drawn up, and all the equipment was transferred to a customs warehouse pending a further decision.
