In the town of Pustomyty in Lviv district, a road traffic collision occurred in which a BMW motorbike struck a 14-year-old female pedestrian. The rider and a female passenger of the two-wheeled vehicle were also injured.
According to law enforcement officers, the collision took place on 19 July at around 18:20. Preliminary findings indicate that the rider of a BMW G310 motorbike, a 43-year-old resident of Lviv district, was travelling along a street in Pustomyty when he hit a 14-year-old local girl who was walking as a pedestrian.
As a result of the collision, the girl, the 43-year-old motorbike rider and his 39-year-old female passenger sustained bodily injuries. All three were taken to medical facilities for treatment.
Investigators of Police Division No.3 of Lviv District Police Directorate No.2 have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road safety rules). The article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ restriction of liberty, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, and a pre-trial investigation is under way.
