On May 9, around 6:30 p.m., the police received a report that a train had hit a person near the “Rudne” railway station of the Lviv district
An investigative team and other employees of police department #1 of Lviv district police department #2 worked at the scene of the incident. As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the Lviv-Mostyska2 electric train ran over a 45-year-old resident of Melitopol who was standing on the railway track. The driver of the train, a 51-year-old man from Lviv, applied emergency braking, but it was not possible to avoid a collision.
As a result of the incident, the man received bodily injuries and was hospitalized.
According to the fact, the investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 276 (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of railway, water or air transport) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of two to seven years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
