In Sambir, Mother and Son Detained for Aiding Bribery

In Lviv Region, law enforcement officers detained a mother and son suspected of aiding the acceptance of bribes for postponement from conscription. Specifically, a 31-year-old resident of Sambir district, together with his mother, the head of one of the district subdivisions, demanded 2,300 dollars from a conscripted man. In return, they promised to arrange a decision regarding his mother, who requires external care, to provide a deferral from military service.

Specialists resolved the issue through contacts in one of the village councils and used their acquaintance to expedite the process. The wrongdoers were exposed by special services during the receipt of the second part of the bribe — 900 dollars. They were detained in Sambir in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and were informed of the suspicion.

According to part 3 of Article 368 and part 5 of Article 27 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the accused face between five and ten years’ imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions and confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation continues.
