In Sambir, law enforcement officers swiftly tracked down a stolen Honda DIO scooter and returned it to its owner. This was reported by the Sambir District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
It was established that the perpetrator had unlawfully taken possession of the scooter, which the owner had left near one of the shops on Lemkivska Street in the district centre. When the man discovered that the vehicle was missing, he turned to the police for assistance.
Criminal police operatives, investigators and officers from other units of the Sambir District Police Department were involved in solving the crime. As a result of the measures carried out, law enforcement officers quickly located the scooter and identified the perpetrator — a 62-year-old resident of Sambir.
Under the procedural guidance of the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators of the territorial police unit informed the suspect that he is under suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unlawful taking of a vehicle). The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of restriction of liberty for a term of three to five years or imprisonment for the same term.
