The traffic accident happened on September 3 around 19:00 on the Stryi-Ivano-Frankivsk highway in the village of Falysh, Stryi district.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, Ford cars driven by a 61-year-old resident of Stryi and VAZ-21099, driven by a 23-year-old resident of the district center, collided. As a result of the collision, the driver of the “nine” received bodily injuries, from which he died at the scene.
In addition, it was established that the Ford driver, who was also injured during the collision, was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The police detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to the fact, the investigators of the department of investigation of crimes in the field of transport of the police of Lviv region opened criminal proceedings under part 3 of article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons who drive vehicles in a state of intoxication) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of five to ten years.
A pre-trial investigation is being conducted, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
