At the “Shehyni–Medyka” checkpoint, customs officers discovered 873 packs of ELFBAR electronic cigarettes concealed in the roof of a Mercedes-Benz minibus. The driver, a 39-year-old resident of Lviv, chose the “green corridor” for simplified customs control.
During the inspection using a scanning system, an anomaly in the vehicle’s structure was detected. In the course of a more thorough inspection, customs officials found the cigarettes, valued at 700,000 hryvnias.
A protocol for violation of customs regulations has been drawn up in accordance with Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. A report on the incident, which has signs of a criminal offence, has been forwarded to the Bureau of Economic Security in the Lviv region.
