A Motorcyclist Detained for a DUI Accident in Lviv Region

In the Lviv region, police detained a motorcyclist who, while intoxicated, was involved in an accident. As a result of the incident, both the driver and the passenger of the motorcycle were injured.

Details of the Road Accident

The road accident occurred on May 1, around 16:00, on the ‘Velyki Mosty-Belz’ highway near the village of Kulychkiv in the Sheptytskyi district. According to preliminary investigations by law enforcement, a Minsk motorcycle, driven by a 35-year-old resident of one of the district’s villages, collided with a Nissan Primastar car driven by a 37-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district.

As a result of the accident, the motorcycle driver and his passenger, a 33-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district, sustained injuries and were transported to a medical facility.

Legal Consequences

It was confirmed that the motorcyclist was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He has been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and a precautionary measure will be determined by the court soon.

The investigators of police department No. 2 of the Sheptytskyi district police department have opened a criminal proceeding under part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles under the influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for a penalty of imprisonment for up to three years with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of three to five years.

The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
