46-Year-Old Man Detained in Sheptytsky for Brutally Beating a 79-Year-Old Neighbor

Police reported that a sudden conflict erupted between two men, resulting in a brutal attack by the younger man, who had a previous criminal record for robbery and hooliganism. He now faces up to eight years in prison. The injured pensioner has been hospitalized with severe injuries.

On January 16, around 2:00 PM, police received a report about a man being assaulted near the entrance of a residential building on Sheptytsky Street in the city of Sheptytsky.

Investigators, criminal police operatives, and other officers from the local police department arrived at the scene. It was determined that a dispute arose between a 46-year-old and a 79-year-old resident, escalating into a violent altercation. The younger man inflicted serious bodily harm on the elderly man and fled the scene.

Through swift operational measures, law enforcement officers located and detained the suspect within two hours under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. It was confirmed that the man was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

The suspect has been charged under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional grievous bodily harm), which carries a penalty of five to eight years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytsky District Prosecutor’s Office.
