In the night before 20 August, in Sknylivskyi Park in Lviv, a 16-year-old boy was injured during a conflict with a group of teenagers. This was reported, based on the investigation data, by the Frankivsk District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Lviv.
According to preliminary information, two intoxicated men were persistently making advances towards girls from the teenagers' group, which led to a verbal altercation involving obscene language, humiliation and insults. During the conflict, one of the men threw a one-litre bottle of a low-alcohol drink at the minors, dousing them, and then took a transparent half-litre glass bottle out of a bag, smashed it against the paving stones and began brandishing it.
The argument escalated into a scuffle, during which the man struck the 16-year-old Lviv resident in the back, reportedly with a knife, after which he fled together with his companion. One of the teenagers called the police, who brought in medics. The victim was taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a cut wound in the lumbar area.
Law enforcement officers quickly identified those involved in the incident and detained them under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The detainees turned out to be a 33-year-old and a 31-year-old resident of Sambir district, who are temporarily living in Lviv near Sknylivskyi Park. During a search at their place of residence, clothing, mobile phones and the alleged weapon of the crime were seized and sent for examination.
Under the procedural guidance of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Lviv, both men have been notified of suspicion of hooliganism: the 33-year-old under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism committed with the use of an item prepared in advance for inflicting bodily injuries), and the 31-year-old under Part 2 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism committed by a group of persons). The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by Police Department No. 1 of Lviv District Police Directorate No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
