In Sokal, the police detained a local resident who tried to steal from a store

The law enforcement officers remind once again that in the conditions of martial law, the maximum punishment is provided for the commission of theft, robbery, robbery, extortion and looting.

On June 6, around 9:00 p.m., an employee of one of the stores in the city of Sokal called the police and reported that an unknown person was trying to commit a theft.

Detectives of the criminal police and the investigative-operational group of the police department No. 2 of the Chervonohrad district police department immediately arrived at the scene of the incident. According to the law enforcement officers, an unknown man entered the store’s utility room and stole goods, but when the employees noticed him, he threw everything on the floor and ran away.

The police interviewed the staff of the shopping establishment and studied the video from the surveillance cameras. They soon discovered a man who, according to the descriptions, looked like the intruder.

A 26-year-old local resident involved in the offense was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

According to the fact, investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Article 15 – Part 4 of Article 185 (Attempt to commit theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
