An elderly cyclist was injured by a truck in Sokal. Police are determining the circumstances of the incident.
The traffic accident happened on September 3, around 2:00 PM, on Heroiv UPA Street in the city of Sokal, Sheptytskyi district. According to preliminary police findings, the MAN truck driver, a 39-year-old resident of one of the villages in the district, hit an 80-year-old local cyclist. As a result of the accident, the elderly cyclist sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
Police investigators from police station No. 2 of the Sheptytskyi district police department have opened criminal proceedings under part 1 of article 286 ‘Violation of traffic safety rules’ of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the article is imprisonment for up to three years, with disqualification from driving for up to three years. Police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
