
In the case concerning the murder of Member of Parliament Andriy Parubiy, the qualification of the suspect’s actions has been changed.
With the agreement of the head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the legal qualification of the criminal offense has been changed to part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons) and Article 112 (attempt on the life of a Member of Parliament of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. **The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years or life imprisonment.**
The body of pre-trial investigation has been changed to the investigation department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region. Recall that on August 30, a 52-year-old resident of Lviv made eight shots at the Member of Parliament, as a result of which the victim died on the spot. A preventive measure of detention has been chosen for the suspect for a term of 60 days without the right to bail.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Operational support is provided by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, the National Police of Ukraine, officers of the Department for Strategic Investigations in the Lviv region of the Strategic Investigations Department of Ukraine, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region and the Security Service of Ukraine, as well as the Department for Combating Cybercrime in the Lviv region of the Cyberpolice Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proved in a lawful manner and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
