In Stebnyk, law enforcement officers detained an offender during a car theft.
The incident occurred on January 21 around 19:00 on Sichovykh Striltsiv Street in the city of Stebnyk, Drohobych district. During their service to ensure public order, servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine noticed a man who, after breaking a window in a Mazda 6 car, was attempting to steal a car seat and an oxygen concentrator from the cabin. The total value of the stolen items amounts to more than 100,000 hryvnias.
Employees of the Drohobych district police department identified the offender as a 44-year-old local resident and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The material evidence was seized from the detainee.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Drohobych district prosecutor’s office, informed the suspect of charges of a crime under part 3 of article 15 – part 4 of article 185 (Attempted theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
