The accident occurred on 21 August, at around 19.00, at the intersection of Drohobytska and Petliura streets in Stryi.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Scania R420 truck, a 50-year-old resident of Khmelnytsky Oblast, hit a cyclist, a 64-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the woman was injured and taken to hospital.
Investigators of the Stryi District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
