
In Stryi, police detained a suspect in mugging a pedestrian on the street.
According to the police, the 27-year-old resident of the district center may face a penalty of up to ten years in prison. The incident occurred on November 4th around 6:00 pm on Uspenska Street, where the perpetrator snatched a mobile phone worth over 16,000 hryvnias from a 42-year-old local resident and fled. The victim sought help from law enforcement.
The crime investigation involved criminal police operatives, investigators, and other services of the Stryi district police department. Law enforcement officers identified the perpetrator and detained him according to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Under the procedural guidance of the Stryi district prosecutor’s office, investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and a decision is being made regarding notifying the suspect of suspicion and selecting a preventive measure.
