While picking mushrooms in the forest between the villages of Sykhiv and Lotatnyky in Stryi district, people discovered an explosive device resembling a grenade from the Second World War. The find was reported to the Rescue Service on 23 July.
Specialists established that the discovered item outwardly resembled an M-39 hand grenade from the Second World War.
At 14:42, the explosives unit of the Mobile Rapid Response Rescue Centre “Lviv” of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine removed the munition and destroyed it in the prescribed manner.
The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region reminds everyone: if you discover suspicious or explosive objects, do not touch them, move them or attempt to dismantle them. You must move away to a safe distance, warn others about the danger and immediately call 101 or 102.
