This morning, December 26, at approximately 6:40 AM, a fatal road accident occurred on the Kyiv-Chop highway in the village of Rozvadiv, Stryi District.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the driver of a Volkswagen Golf, a 19-year-old resident of a village in Drohobych District, struck a 54-year-old pedestrian from Stryi District.
The pedestrian died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Violation of Traffic Safety Rules”). The article stipulates a penalty of three to eight years of imprisonment and may include the revocation of driving privileges for up to three years.
Police are working to clarify all circumstances surrounding the incident.
