A 48-year-old man died in a road accident in the Stryi district – the police are investigating
The police of the Lviv region warns that all road users – drivers of vehicles and pedestrians – should be as careful and attentive as possible in the dark, on a wet and slippery road. Drivers – do not exceed a safe speed. Pedestrians – cross the road only in designated areas and wear reflective clothing.
The road accident occurred on December 9 at around 6:20 p.m. on the Kyiv-Chop highway in one of the villages of the Stryi district.
As previously determined by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the BMW car, a 23-year-old resident of the city of Skole, hit a pedestrian – a 48-year-old local resident. After the collision, the man was thrown into the oncoming lane, where he got under the wheels of a Volvo truck with a semi-trailer driven by a 30-year-old resident of Truskavets.
The pedestrian died at the scene from his injuries. It is also preliminarily established that he crossed the road in an unspecified place.
According to the fact, the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Oblast Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years or without it.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
