In Stryi, a teaching assistant at one of the nursery schools has been served with a notice of suspicion for striking a 2-year-old girl who is temporarily living at the institution. This was reported under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the incident took place yesterday around lunchtime. When the staff member discovered that the girl had not asked to go to the toilet on time, she began shouting at the child and shaming her for her dirty clothes.
During the confrontation, the teaching assistant grabbed the child by the arm and with that same arm struck her several times on the head. Then, continuing to shout, the woman struck the girl three more times with her hand on the leg.
Law enforcement officers have classified the staff member’s actions under Part 1 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as the intentional infliction of blows that caused physical pain but did not result in bodily injury. A decision is currently being made on suspending the suspect from her position.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv Region. In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
