Man in Stryi notified of suspicion of selling tablets containing narcotics

In Stryi, a 42-year-old local resident has been notified of suspicion of the illicit circulation of narcotic substances. According to the investigation, in June this year the man was selling tablets containing buprenorphine and methadone.

Investigators established that the suspect was selling the tablets for cash during face-to-face meetings in various districts of Stryi. He agreed the location of the handover with his “clients” in advance by phone.

Despite the fact that the active substances in the tablets were different, the price remained the same – UAH 2,500 for three tablets in a blister pack, that is, more than UAH 800 per tablet.

Under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, the man is charged with the unlawful acquisition and storage for the purpose of sale, as well as the unlawful sale of a narcotic substance, including repeated offences, under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.

Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
