36-year-old man from Stryi to stand trial for selling buprenorphine and sending it by post

An indictment has been submitted to court against a 36-year-old resident of Stryi, who is accused of selling and sending the narcotic drug buprenorphine with intent to distribute. This was reported by the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, the man was selling tablets containing buprenorphine, having previously agreed with the buyer on the meeting place and price. In September this year, he twice sold five tablets, each time for 5,000 UAH. The meetings with the buyer took place near the defendant’s flat in Stryi.

In addition to face-to-face meetings, the defendant attempted to organise the distribution of drugs by post. To disguise the contents of the parcels, he placed the tablets in plastic vitamin containers. In August, such a parcel was addressed to Turka in Lviv region, and in September to Balakliia in Kharkiv region.

Both parcels containing buprenorphine were discovered by law enforcement officers during an inspection at a sorting terminal. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Investigation Department of the Stryi District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.

The man is charged with the unlawful acquisition, storage and sending with intent to distribute, as well as the unlawful distribution of narcotic drugs, committed repeatedly (Parts 1 and 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
