A 35-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to ten years.
According to law enforcement officers, on September 2, around 10:00 p.m., in the yard of one of the buildings on Kopernika Street in Lviv, an unknown assailant snatched a shoulder bag from a passer-by – a local resident aged 63 and fled. According to the applicant, the bag contained a mobile phone, documents and other property.
Criminal police operatives and investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 were involved in solving the crime.
The law enforcement officers conducted a complex of operative and search measures, studied the recordings of video surveillance cameras located within the framework of the “Safe Lviv Region” program, established the location of the intruder and detained him within an hour in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
He turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of Chernivtsi region. Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Galician district prosecutor’s office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Article 186 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of seven to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the perpetrator.
The law enforcement officers remind once again that in the conditions of martial law, the maximum punishments are provided for committing theft, robbery, robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation, waste of property or possession of it by abuse of official position.
