
In the town of Velyki Mosty in the Sheptytskyi district, police officers detained a 30-year-old resident of Chernivtsi region, suspected of stealing 50,000 hryvnias from an acquaintance’s bank card. This was reported by the Communications Department of the Lviv Region Police.
According to the preliminary findings of law enforcement officers, on 22 August at around 16:10 the man took his acquaintance’s bank card, allegedly to purchase goods, and was supposed to return it to its owner. Instead, he withdrew 30,000 hryvnias from the card, and then, roughly three and a half hours later, withdrew an additional 20,000 hryvnias from the victim’s account.
According to the investigation, the suspect spent the stolen funds at his own discretion. The man was detained under the procedure set out in Article 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators informed the suspect that he is under suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialised Prosecutor’s Office in the Sphere of Defence of the Western Region.
