In the town of Velyki Mosty in the Sheptytskyi district, a road traffic collision occurred in which a 19-year-old motorcyclist and his 17-year-old passenger were injured. This was reported by the Sheptytskyi District Police Department.
The collision took place on 21 June at around 23:00 at the junction of Lvivska Street and Nezalezhnosti Square. According to preliminary findings, a Loncin 250 motorcycle, ridden by a 19-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district, and a BMW X5 driven by a 23-year-old resident of the same district collided.
As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist and his 17-year-old passenger, a resident of the Sheptytskyi district, sustained bodily injuries and were taken to hospital.
Law enforcement officers established that the motorcyclist was riding the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. On this basis, investigators from Police Station No. 2 of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment with disqualification from driving for a period of three to five years. The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
