In Velyki Mosty, motorcyclist and underage passenger injured in road accident

In the town of Velyki Mosty in the Sheptytskyi district, a 19-year-old rider of a two-wheeled vehicle and his 17-year-old passenger were injured in a collision between a motorbike and a car. According to law enforcement officers, the motorcyclist was riding under the influence of alcohol.

The road traffic accident occurred on 21 June at around 23:00 at the junction of Lvivska Street and Nezalezhnosti Square in Velyki Mosty.

Preliminary findings indicate that a Loncin 250 motorbike, ridden by a 19-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district, collided with a BMW X5 driven by a 23-year-old resident of the same district.

As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist and his 17-year-old passenger, a resident of the Sheptytskyi district, sustained bodily injuries and were taken to hospital. Police officers established that the motorcyclist was riding the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Investigators from Police Station No. 2 of the Sheptytskyi District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated). The article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment with disqualification from driving for a period of three to five years.

Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
