In Verkhnye Dorozheve a drink-driving motorist overturned his car, injuring two teenagers

In the village of Verkhnye Dorozheve in the Drohobych district, a road traffic collision involving a drink-driving motorist occurred, in which two underage passengers were injured. This was reported by the Police of Lviv Region.

The collision happened on 31 May at around 23:00. According to preliminary findings, a 35-year-old resident of Drohobych district, driving an Opel Meriva, lost control, left the carriageway, after which the vehicle overturned.

As a result of the collision, the passengers in the car – residents of Drohobych district aged 16 and 17 – sustained bodily injuries. Following the incident, they were taken to hospital.

Law enforcement officers established that the driver had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the Drohobych District Police Department have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated. The sanction of the article provides for up to three years’ imprisonment with disqualification from driving vehicles for a period of three to five years.

The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
