In the town of Vynnyky in Lviv district, at around 15:30 on 23 October, a fatal road traffic collision occurred. The driver of a Renault Laguna, a 28-year-old Lviv resident, ran over a pedestrian – a 61-year-old woman from Lviv district.
According to preliminary information, the woman died at the scene from her injuries. Investigators from the department for investigating transport-related offences of the Lviv region police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of road safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles).
The sanction under this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with a possible driving ban for up to three years or without such a ban.
A joint investigative and operational team from Lviv District Police Department No.1 and officers of the Patrol Police Department in Lviv region were working at the scene of the collision. Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
