In Vynnyky, a drink-driving motorist without a licence caused a crash and fled

In the town of Vynnyky, a 23-year-old Toyota Camry driver was involved in a road traffic collision and left the scene. Patrol police officers reported the incident.

According to law enforcement officers, the driver hit a parked Toyota Sienna. The security guard and the driver of the damaged car tried to stop the offender, but he drove off.

The patrol officers obtained CCTV footage from the car park and, having tracked the route using the City Security Centre cameras, established the vehicle’s location and detained the driver. He turned out to be a 23-year-old man who had not renewed his driving licence after being disqualified from driving.

While speaking to him, the officers noticed signs of alcohol intoxication. He agreed to undergo a medical examination at a healthcare facility, where the result showed a blood alcohol level of 1.10‰.

Three reports were drawn up against the driver: under Article 124 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (violation of the Highway Code resulting in a road traffic collision), under Article 122-4 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (leaving the scene of a road traffic collision) and under Part 1 of Article 130 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences (driving a vehicle while intoxicated). A penalty notice was also issued for driving a vehicle without the right to drive.
