In Vynnyky, two men were sentenced for attacking a serviceman who was on leave for treatment after being wounded. The incident occurred at the end of May 2024, when a 28-year-old Lviv resident and a 33-year-old local approached the 46-year-old soldier under the pretext of an urgent call.
After receiving the mobile phone, one of the attackers put it in his pocket and refused to return the device when asked. When the soldier attempted to retrieve his property, one of the men struck him in the stomach, taking advantage of the victim’s injured arm. They then forcibly removed an award watch from his wrist.
Despite the soldier’s attempts to fend them off, the attackers fled the scene. A passer-by noticed the scuffle and called the police. The robbers were promptly apprehended near a local restaurant, and the victim’s belongings were found on them.
The court sentenced them to 7 and 8 years of imprisonment, respectively. Until the verdict becomes legally binding, the convicts will remain in custody. The pre-trial investigation was conducted under the guidance of the Lviv Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.
